The Alchemy of Passage

The Alchemy of Passage is a self-portrait created from the remnants of my daily commute. Including transit cards, credit cards, and the small/utilitarian objects that carried me to and from work. Collected over time, these fragments became the material for a mosaic of my corporate identity.

What began as objects of routine and necessity became something entirely different in the process of making.
Staring out the train window on my way to the office, I began to wonder what else these objects could become. The cards that carried me through my daily routine-ordinary, temporary, and easily forgotten- began to feel like fragments waiting for another life. Instead of allowing them to disappear once their purpose was fulfilled, I began to imagine what beauty might emerge from giving these remnants of corporate life a new one.
This work explores the quiet alchemy of finding wonder within repetition. The transformation that can happen when we choose to look at the ordinary differently. Rather than allowing the rhythm of corporate life to dull that sense of wonder, I found a way to preserve it, turning the evidence of my daily passage into a reminder to keep creating, keep noticing, and keep a little sparkle alive.
